RIFLE HUNTING
THE HUNT
Rifle hunting takes place mainly by means of walk and stalk.
Still hunting by means of ambush  is also
an exciting option of out-smarting your cautious African
quarry, and depending on  the species of game,
tracking them down is possible  and poses a very
challenging option.  This is done with bigger animals
such as Buffalo, Elephant, Rhino and Eland.
HUNTING SEASON AND DURATION
Hunting can take place year round, but the ideal hunting
time is from April - September. As it is our winter months,
it is the driest part of the year and the bush doesn't lend much
cover, therefore game is easier to spot. There are virtually
no bugs at this time. Barrel & Bow caters for a minimum
of 5 to a maximum of 21 day hunts.
FIREARMS
We recommend you bring your own bolt-action rifle.
However firearms can be hired for your traveling convenience.
On entering South Africa  you will be issued with a temporary
firearm import permit, valid for the duration of the hunt.
It is important to select the correct calibers for the game
that you intend to hunt. A suitable scope sighted 7mm
or .30 caliber rifle is advised as this will cover a
wide range of game.

The minimum caliber required for any dangerous game
is .375 H&H.
